Worthians Carol Service a huge success - see a gallery of pictures
A wonderful evening was had by all who attended the inaugural Worthians Christmas Carol Service in London last night.
The Worth Society event was held at St Patrick’s Church in Soho Square, with almost 200 people booking places for the evening.
The school choir sung superbly, led by Mr Michael Oakley and accompanied by Worth Abbey organist Mr D’Arcy Trinkwon. There were also readings from speakers representing each decade of school life at Worth, starting with Mr Peter Pavry who left Worth Prep School in 1958 and concluding with Miss Jessica Coffin, the first Head Girl at the school.
Mr Jeremy Fletcher, chairman of the Worth Society, and Abbot Luke also gave readings, while the audience included the current Head Master, Mr Stuart McPherson, and a number of governors.
There was a retiring collection for Mary’s Meals, a charity Worth is supporting, at the end of the service and the evening concluded with a reception for those who attended, as well as a chance for old friends to catch up.
The evening was an outstanding success and it is hoped it may be the start of a tradition for Worth Society and the School.
