Worth 75
In 2008-09 Worth Abbey celebrated 75 years since it was founded by monks from Downside, in Somerset.
The year of celebration began with a Downside to Worth Pilgrimage walk. A group of monks, Worth School staff and senior students set off on Sunday 21st September and arrived at Worth on Sunday 28th September 2008, 75 years to the day since those first monks from Downside took up residence.

Commemorative Catalogue
To mark this moment in Worth’s history a Commemorative Catalogue has been produced that celebrates the core values of Worth and gives an impression of some of the milestones that have made Worth what it is today. The Catalogue is illustrated with specially commissioned colour photos of Worth today as well as historical black and white photos, beginning with the estate as it was in 1933; £5 each
Hand painted and signed limited edition ceramics (only 150 available) to celebrate Worth 75, from Deborah Sears.
In a traditional shape, ready to fill with seasonal flowers, the contemporary hand painted design brings it up to date with Worth 75. The design theme is “community for the greater good” and leads the viewer around Worth, from the gates of the school, up to the clock tower, around the Abbey and down to the Quiet Garden and a colony of spring flowers under the trees, then back to the school. A journey of hospitality, listening, silence and balance.
Perfect for a desk or bedside table, each piece is individually numbered and inscribed with Worth 75 on its base; £95 each
Scented Candle Pots
Hand painted and signed limited edition ceramics (only 150 available) to celebrate Worth 75, from Deborah Sears.
The design is a metaphor for the path of fidelity, worship, and humility. The viewer travels round the Abbey down to the Quiet Garden. The lovely scent is a light spice and it burns for hours, “giving light to all that are in the house”.
