St Bede’s House victorious in House Music Competition

St Bede’s secured a well-earned victory in this year’s House Music Competition with great performances in each of the four sections.

The spectacular drumming of Loco fiesta in the Special also won St Bede’s that section, but their Ensemble was pipped to the post by Chapman’s rendition of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ Pretty Little Ditty.

Mr Michael Oakley, Director Music, said, “There were a number of really thrilling performances for which [the boys] should feel rightly proud.”

The winning performances were as follows:

  • Solo winner: Butler
    Allegro Brilliante performed by James Matthews
  • Ensemble winner:Chapman
    Pretty Little Ditty performed by Richard Pannell, Rory Ryan, Adrian Vella, Nick Elvidge, Seb Strudley, Alex Fletcher, Richard Wiggins and Ben Smith
  • Special winner: St Bede’s
    Loco fiesta performed by Redmond Bacon, Felix Barber, Gabriel Gahan, James Smith and Nicholas Travers
  • Choral winner: Farwell
    O Happy Day performed by the Farwell House Choir and conducted by Matt Quinn
