A Level and IB Results 2007

Worth students have once again received outstanding results in the A level and International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma examinations this summer.

Those sitting A levels achieved Worth’s best ever results, with a record 72% being awarded grades A to B, and a third of students achieving three or more A grades.

“This year has been exceptional, with some excellent results.  The vast majority of our students are now looking forward to studying at leading British universities.”  said Gino Carminati, Head Master.

These A level results complement the impressive IB diploma results achieved in July, when the school enjoyed an IB pass rate of 100%, with an average score of 33.1 points, compared to the average world-wide score of 30.  81% of the grades awarded were at level 5, 6 or 7, which would equate to 81% A and B grades at A level.

Worth is one of only two schools in West Sussex to offer the IB.  It is now firmly established, with around a third of the sixth form choosing the IB over A levels.  IB Co-ordinator, Simon Smith, said: “The IB is both a challenging and comprehensive educational programme.  It is also a highly regarded and accepted credential at universities the world over.”

Gino Carminati commented:  “These are first-rate results and a credit to both our teachers and students.  It is especially encouraging to note that the increase in performance was not at the cost of students’ all-round contribution to school life.  I congratulate all our students on their success.”
